Make sure the custom field List/Record set to Customer not Entity.
1. Enter Label.
2. Set the Type to List/Record
3. Set the List/Record to Customer.
4. Check the Record is Parent box.
5. In the Display tab select the Parent Subtab.
6. Click Save.
