Unable to Get Authorization through Merchant e-Solutions. The Order is on Payment Hold Due to Error Code 003: Invalid Merchant ID but the Error Only Occurs on Certain Sales Order Transactions

Symptoms of the issue:

a. Transaction is processed through Merchant e-Solutions

b. Reason for payment hold is Error code 003: Invalid Merchant ID

c. The error only occurs on certain sales transactions or customer credit card accounts

d. If verified with Merchant e-Solutions support, no problems are encountered under your account. And neither where there previous changes made in your credit card processing profile in NetSuite.

Reason:

The issuing bank of the credit card used by your customer to place an order does not recognize your Merchant ID. This is because certain credit card service types issued by merchant banks require membership of business establishments for compliance with certain regulatory and legal conditions.

Only registered Merchant ID's of qualified business establishment members are allowed to transact business on certain credit card service types.

A good example is the credit cards issued to those that are engaged in Health Care Services in the US which is regulated by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

Examples of these Credit Card Service types are the following:

a. Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)

b. Health Reimbursement Accounts (HRA)

c. Health Savings Accounts (HSA)

a. 1) Login to www.sig-is.org to apply for membership on credit card service types for Health Care Services.



b. 2) Request for another valid credit card or a different mode of payment when the order is placed.
