Default commands (Run and Save) when downloading files using Internet Explorer 9

 

Previous versions, such as Internet Explorer 7 and 8, allow users to have an option of running or saving a downloaded file from the browser, and keeping this option as the default.

You can do this with the following steps:

1. In Internet Explorer 7 or 8, go to Tools > Internet Options.
2. Click on the Security tab.
3. Click on the Custom Level button.
4. Under the Downloads section, select Disable for Automatic prompting file downloads. 
5. Under the Downloads section, select Enable for File download.
6. Click on the OK button.

For Internet Explorer 9, the option to disable the automatic prompting has been removed.  This means the prompt will always come up when you download files using this browser.  There is currently no way to disable the prompt.
