One standard Sales Key Performance Indicator (KPI) can be displayed in the Key Performance Indicators portlet.
The Sales KPI information is based on the Sales by Customer Summary report. A saved search to display the information being shows on the Sales by Customer Summary report will create additional Sales KPIs in the KPI portlet in the dashboard.
Here is how to create that saved search:
1. Navigate to Lists > Search > Saved Searches > New.
2. Click on the Transaction link.
3. In the Criteria tab, add the following:
Type is any of Cash Refund, Cash Sale, Credit Memo, Invoice, Journal
Main Line is false
Shipping Line is false
Tax Line is false
Account Type is any of Income, Other Income, Deferred Revenue
* These account types give the most accurate depiction of the Sales by Customer Summary report. If somehow some accounts do not fall under any of these account types, it will cause differences between this saved search and the Sales by Customer Summary report.
4. In the Results tab, click on the Remove All button.
5. Add the following fields:
Field: Name
Summary Type: Group
Field: Amount
Summary Type: Sum
6. In the Available Filters tab, add the Date field.
7. Under the Show in Footer column, mark the checkbox for the Date field.
8. Rename your search and click on Save.
9. Go to Home > Dashboard.
10. In the KPI Portlet, click on the drop-down arrow and click on Set Up.
11. Click on the Add Custom KPIs button. A new window should pop up.
12. Scroll down to find the saved search created. Click on it and click on the Done button.
13. Set the Date ranges to This Year to Date and Last Year to Date.
14. Click Save button.
