Importing Cases with Multiple Messages in NetSuite

Currently, we cannot import cases with multiple messages in Netsuite. However, we can still proceed by importing the cases first to create an Internal ID. This is followed by importing the actual messages referencing the Internal ID to ensure that the messages fall under the correct cases. Please follow the steps below:

1. Create a CSV file with the vital columns such as Subject, Company, and Status. Please refer to the screenshot below for proper guidance.

2. Go to Set Up> Import/Export> Import CSV Records
3. Import Type=Support; Record Type=Support Cases> Upload the CSV File> Next
4. Data Handling=Add> Next
5. Mapping as below:

Company <> Company (Req)
30/12/2011 (sample date) <> Incident Date (Req)
Status<> Status (Req) Subject <> Subject (Req)

Once done, hit Next.

6. Enter Import Map Name> Save and Run
7. Click on Import Job Status> Hit Refresh until successful with the import.
8. Now that the Cases have been imported and Internal IDs have been generated, the next step is to create another template with the actual messages. The example below will show you that Internal ID was used along with the Messages itself.



9. Navigate to Set Up> Import Export> Import CSV Records
10. Import Type=Support; Record Type=Support Cases> Upload the CSV File> Next
11. Data Handling=Update> Hit Next
12. Mapping as below:

Internal ID <> Internal ID
Message <> Message

Once done, hit Next.

13. Enter Import Map Name> Save and Run
14. Click on Import Job Status> Hit Refresh until successful with the import.
