The email address notification field under the Shipping tab of the Item Fulfillment page enables the user to notify the recipient of the package. This is available if Integrated Shipping Label is enabled. For UPS, the feature is "Ship Notification Email Addresses", for FedEx it is "FedEx ShipAlert®" while for USPS it is "Send Email Notification".
41 is the maximum number of characters user can enter in the email address notification field under the shipping tab of the Item Fulfillment page.
Prior to version 2011 users were able to enter more than 100 characters in the email address field. However, this causes errors when shipping requests are sent to the shipping carriers. Right now, this field can only hold up to 41 characters only.
