Departments are Mandatory for all Transactions but Customer can still Save a Journal Entry without Selecting a Department

 

A Journal Entry is created even if the Department field is not set because the Allow Empty Classification on Journal is enabled.  To disable this preference:

 

1. Navigate to Setup > Accounting > Accounting Preferences.

2. Navigate to General Tab > Classifications Section.

3. Unmark the Allow Empty Classification on Journal box.

4. Click Save.
