Replace Related Items of Kit/Packages via CSV Import

Solution:

Replacing Related Items in a Kit/Package record would require two imports:

(1)  Remove all related items under the Related Items sublist of a Kit/Package record

(2)  Assign new related items to the Kit/Package record

 

(1)  Remove all related items under the Related Items sublist of a Kit/Package record:

a.     Prepare a CSV file with the following column headers:

                                   i.    Internal ID of the item

                                  ii.    Related Item

                                 iii.    Related Item Type

b.    Leave the values as blank except for the internal ID as follows:

 

Internal ID	Related Item	Related Item Type

c.     Navigate to Setup > Import/Export > Import CSV Records.

                                   i.    Import Type: Items

                                  ii.    Record Type: Kit/Package

d.    Browse the file from your computer and click Next.

e.    In the Data Handling, choose Update.

f.      In the Advanced Options, mark the Overwrite Sublists option.

g.    In the Field Mapping, you mapped the following fields:

                                   i.    Internal ID – Internal ID

                                  ii.    Related Item – Presentation Items 1 : Item

                                 iii.    Related Item Type – Presentation Items 1 : Type

h.    Click Next.

i.      Enter an Import Map Name.

j.      Click Save & Run.

 

(2)  Assign new related items to the Kit/Package record:

a.     Prepare a CSV file with the following column headers:

                                   i.    Internal ID of the item

                                  ii.    Related Item

                                 iii.    Related Item Type

b.    Sample CSV file:

1	Item 2	Item

 

c.     Navigate to Setup > Import/Export > Import CSV Records.

                                   i.    Import Type: Items

                                  ii.    Record Type: Kit/Package

d.    Browse the file from your computer and click 1841065 .

e.    In the Data Handling, choose Update.

f.      In the Advanced Options, unmark the Overwrite Sublists option.

g.    In the Field Mapping, you mapped the following fields:

                                   i.    Internal ID – Internal ID

                                  ii.    Related Item – Presentation Items 1 : Item

                                 iii.    Related Item Type – Presentation Items 1 : Type

h.    Click Next.

i.      Enter an Import Map Name.

j.      Click Save & Run.
