Web Services > Search > How to set the sort order field of the returned results

When performing a search using Web Services there is currently no way to specify the sort order of the returned results in the request itself.

Users should be aware of the implicit sorted by order in which records are returned, as documented in SuiteAnswers article # 10828.

To sort by a specific field:

1. Create a saved search in the NetSuite User Interface.
2. Set the sort order in the user interface search to the field you want to sort by.
3. Perform an Advanced Search via Web Services referencing the internal id of that search (e.g. CustomerSearchAdvanced)

The returned results will be sorted by the same field specified in the User Interface search.
