Unable to Print a PDF file using Internet Explorer

A PDF file is opened via Internet Explorer and when the Print Button is click, no document is printed although you can print other documents like (word, spreadsheets).

A reason for this behavior is because Protected Mode is enabled in the Internet Explorer Security settings.

Do one of the following solutions:

Solution 1: Use a Different Web Browser.

- Use a different web browser, such as Firefox or Chrome, to print the PDF file.

Solution 2: Run Internet Explorer with No-Add on Mode
  1. Click Start, type in INETCPL.CPL and press Enter.
  2. Click the Advanced tab.
  3. Click to clear the Enable third-party browser extensions (requires restart) check box.
  4. Click Apply
  5. Click Ok.
  6. Start Internet Explorer, and then try to reproduce the issue.


  7. Or
  1. Click Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Internet Explorer (No Add Ons)
  2. Then try to reproduce the issue.
Solution 3: Temporarily disable Protected Mode in Internet Explorer
  1. In Internet Explorer, choose Tools > Internet Options.
  2. Choose the Security tab.
  3. Deselect the checkbox labeled Enable Protected Mode.
  4. Click OK.
  5. Close Internet Explorer.
  6. Re-open Internet Explorer.
  7. Browse to the PDF file that you want to print.
  8. Print the File
Warning: Protected Mode can protect your computer from malicious software. You should enable Protected Mode again after you have printed the PDF

Note: If either Solution 2 or 3 works for you and after the test, consult your IT personnel to verify the settings of the Internet Explorer installed in your Computer.
