Set the Default Case Type for new Cases via Workflow

There is no option or preference to set the default Case Type when a new case is created. To set a default value for this field when a new case is created, a Workflow can be created.

To create the workflow:

 

1. Navigate to  Customization > Workflow > Workflows > New

2. Set the following:

  • Name: Case Type
  • Record Type: Case

  • Execute as Admin is checked

  • Release Status: Released

  • Event Based: On Created

  • Trigger Type: - All -

 

3. Click State 1 > New Action > Set Field Value.

4. Set the following:

  • Trigger On: Entry
  • Field: Case Type

  • Static Value: Selection = < choose the case type that you want to set as the default >

5. Click Save.
