Sample Workflow for Direct List Edit (Inline Edit)

 

Use Case of the sample workflow:

Customer has a custom portlet that uses a saved search to show the sales orders to fulfil. Customer has a custom checkbox and he/she'd like to change the status of the sales order to 'Pending Fulfillment' when this custom checkbox is checked.

To do this, the Trigger Type of the workflow must be 'After Record Submit' and Event Type must be 'Direct List Edit'. This triggers the workflow whenever a field is changed through inline editing.

Here are the steps:

1.       Go to Customization > Workflow > Workflows > New

2.       Add a state with the following action for the 'Order Status' field:

3.       Test the workflow by checking the custom checkbox:

 

Opening the sales order would show that the status was changed into 'Pending Fulfillment'.
