User gets the error:
There is already a Custom List or Custom List element with that name., when importing Custom Lists via CSV Import.
This is because the Data Handling type selected during the import is Add instead of Update. When the user selects Add, the Name field is required in the mapping as it will create a new custom list. When the user selects Update, the Name field is not required in the mapping as it will only add new values to an existing custom list.
To resolve this, follow these steps:
1. Navigate to Setup > Import/Export > Import CSV Records.
2. Select Customization in the Import Type and Custom List in the Record Type.
3. Upload the CSV file.
4. On the next screen, select Update in the Data Handling.
5. On the next screen, map the fields Values : Abbreviation and Values : Value (Req) to the column names of the CSV file.
6. Click on Run.
