Unable to replace a customer on an Opportunity record with a customer from a different Subsidiary

Client would like to change the Subsidiary of an exiting Opportunity by replacing a customer on an Opportunity record with a customer from a different Subsidiary due it was created by mistake, there are two company records in their account with different Subsidiaries.

Users are not allowed to change entity / subsidiary of an on-going transaction. They must delete and re-create the transaction.
