Maximum Entries in Dropdowns not working

Set Maximum Entries in Dropdowns = 500(max) but Custom Lists still shows a popup instead of a dropdown.

Note: Enhancement number 223313 was filed for this.

The limit for Lists is currently set to 50,000 entries in the Java code.  If users are pulling up a List using Custom Fields to filter the results - a popup is always used if the source of the List is greater than 50,000 values. 

This is done by NetSuite due to performance reasons and is regardless of any settings.
