The Long Date Format found on Home > Set Preferences > General tab is used to control the date format on the following records types shown below and any custom or standard reports where the Display Title box is checked.
Note: Users can only see the Long Date Format while in the View Mode.
1. Date field found on the Event Record. Navigate to Activities > Scheduling > Events > Click View on an existing Event Record > Look for the Date field.
2. Start Date field on the Task Record. Navigate to Activities > Scheduling > Tasks > Click View on an existing Task Record > Look for the Start Date field.
3. Phone Call Date field found on the Phone Call Record. Navigate to Activities > Scheduling > Tasks > Click View on an existing Phone Call Record > Look for the Phone Call Date.
As for the Display Title that shows the Long Date Format on any of the Standard or Custom Report, open any type of report > Click Options > Set Display Title box checked > Right below the title of the report, it displays the Long Date Format.
