Pivot Report > Permission Violation: You need a higher permission for custom record type Search Pivot Layout to access this page

Scenario:

• A user with a custom role in NetSuite receives the error below after clicking the Pivot Report button while editing a saved search.
  
  Permission Violation: You need a higher permission for custom record type Search Pivot Layout to access this page. Please contact your account administrator.
  
  

• The role already has the following permissions (found under Permissions tab > Custom Record subtab):
  Search Pivot Field = Full
  Search Pivot Layout = Full

Solution:

Aside from the above permissions, the user's role needs the Custom Record Entries permission in order to create pivot reports.

1. Log in as Administrator.
2. Navigate to Setup > Users/Roles > Manage Roles.
3. Edit the role in question.
4. Under Permissions tab > Lists subtab, add the Custom Record Entries permission and set the Level to Full.
5. Click Save.
