Reference Information Displayed on FedEx Shipping Labels

Including reference information on the printed Integrated Shipping Labels helps you track packages with the carrier and with your customers.

 

If you are using FedEx as your Shipping Carrier in NetSuite, you can add more information on the Shipping Label by using the Reference Information field in NetSuite. You can select any of the information below to be printed on the FedEx Shipping Labels by default.

  • Customer Email
  • Customer Name
  • Customer Phone Number
  • Item Name
  • Order Number
  • Purchase Order Number

To set it up, please follow the procedures below:

 

1.      Navigate to Setup > Accounting > Shipping

2.      On the Set Up Shipping page, go to the Preferences tab

3.      Under the Reference Fields section, select from the Reference # 1 field the desired default value.

 

The value selected here is automatically copied into the Reference Information field on the Packages sub tab of order fulfillments. If an order has more than one package, this information is included on each package on the order.

 

Please note that FedEx only uses one Reference field so if customer is using FedEx on their shipments it should be selected under the Reference # 1 field. The Reference # 2 field is only available for UPS shipments.

 

In addition, the value selected on the Reference field is only the default value, you can still change the value that would be printed out on the FedEx shipping label on the Reference Information field under the Packages tab of the Item Fulfillment.

 

If you select Item Name as the reference information type, the name of the first item on the order is used.

The Reference field will also be displayed on International Shipments.
