To set Customer Addresses as Residential by default, please follow the steps below:
1. Navigate to Setup > Accounting > Shipping
2. Go to Preferences tab
3. Under Rates section > Mark checkbox for Residential Address for Shipping
4. Click Submit
Once this is enabled every time you enter a new address for your customer, the checkbox for Residential will default to checked. If the address that you are entering is not a Residential address you will have to uncheck the checkbox so it will be considered as Business Address instead.
