Scenario: User creates a new Contact record with already existing Contact name. The following error appears:
A contact with this record already exist. Every contact record must have a unique name.
The error occurs:
1. When both Contact records are not associated to Company.
2. When both Contact records are associated to the same Company.
Note: The Contact is saved successfully with the same Contact name field if there is a different Company associated or one of the contact records is not associated to Company.
Example:
1. User has an already existing Contact Andrea Philips.
2. User creates another Contact with the same Contact name field: Andrea Philips.
Result: The following error occurs: A contact with this record already exist. Every contact record must have a unique name.
Alternate solution:
1. User may add or edit the Contact name field that appears on the Contact record.
2. Add a number or letter to make Contact field unique.
Note: NetSuite accepts duplicate firstname and lastname for Contact records but the Contact name field must be unique.
