Refund Orders in NetSuite Paid through Standard PayPal or PayPal Express Checkout

Orders that are paid by PayPal Express Checkout from within NetSuite can be refunded and there is no need to log in to the PayPal web site separately.

Once PayPal Express Checkout is enabled and set up, transactions created from the webstore using the PayPal payment option are refundable.

To refund PayPal transactions in NetSuite:

1. Navigate to Transactions > Sales > Enter Cash Sales > List.

2. View the PayPal Cash Sale.

3. Click Refund.

4. Confirm the amount to be refunded is displayed in the Total field.

5. Click Save.

Note: A Cash Sale Refund is used because it is the transaction that communicates with PayPal on submit. A refund from the credit memo generates a customer refund which cannot be refunded directly to PayPal.

A full refund, partial refund or multiple refunds to orders processed and captured using PayPal Express Checkout can be applied as long as the total refund amount is less than or equal to the original transaction amount.

User cannot refund transactions if funds have not yet been captured.

If PayPal Express Checkout is not enabled, then transactions processed using the PayPal payment option cannot be refunded from within NetSuite.
